When it started being marketed in the UK, playmobil® was known as playpeople.

These are thick stickers, individually packed. There are at least these eight different ones which seem to make satisfactory pairs.

As you can see, the drawings are somewhat lacking the... grace of the figures themselves. Still, a VERY interesting item to have, at least in my opinion.
